Local resident loses barn to fire

A barn was destroyed in a fire Friday evening near Herald, said County Sheriff John Banner.

Fire-fighters were called at 5:32 p.m. Friday to 22276 County Road 34 in Lake Juniper Township.

The barn was fully engulfed when they arrived. Banner indicated that trucks from 3 rural fire departments responded to the fire.

The barn was fully engulfed when they arrived, Banner said.

No one was inside the barn when it caught fire.

All the livestock inside survived.

The cause is under investigation. The barn is owned by Thomas and Phyllis Binz.

Herald, Payneston, Richmond and Jenkins fire departments put out the fire. Jenkins and Herald police departments assisted at the scene.
